Matt Mascaro is a multi-media artist residing in Los Angeles. Matt works primarily in film and video. The current focus of "Objectification" is a study on objectification, and its role in society, the commercial marketing paradigm, and in the execution of global war. This series of pieces celebrates the individuality of each human being, at the same time it examines the oneness in spirit that we all share, that which is deliberately severed in consumerism's attempt to exploit the market.
The exhibit consists of three video installations, two live model pieces and photographs. The show is entirely composed of portraiture in all three forms.
Matt Mascaro moved to Los Angeles in 1998 in pursuit of Punk Rock music, and the traditional ideas of the movement, and eventually became obsessed with visual media in film and photography, and their social and cultural ramifications. Beginning with photographic studies in portraiture of people in his neighbourhood; transvestite prostitutes, exotic dancers, clowns, etc. he graduated into videography.
As a photographer/Videographer Matt has enjoyed successful exhibitions in and around Los Angeles. His work has been published by RotoVision Press and has been collected by Hollywood's heavyweight producer Laurence Mark, among others.
